Gamelan Beginners Course

Learn to play the beautiful Javanese gamelan at Southbank Centre. The gamelan is an Indonesian percussion orchestra comprising
gong-chimes, drums and metallophones with a mesmerising and captivating sound. Ideal for people with or without previous musical
experience, the gamelan is a fun way to enjoy group music-making in a social ensemble environment.
This course
is tailored towards complete beginners and can be subscribed to per term or per year. Students learn the basic techniques
and rhythmic patterns of Javanese gamelan and be given a variety of performance opportunities.
Ticket prices
£80 per term. Series offer £210 per year. Payment must be made in advance.

Summer 09: 10 weeks + half term: 23, 30 April, 7, 14, 21 May, 4, 11, 18,
25 June, 2 July (no class 28 May half term)
