From the Canyons to the Stars: The Music of Olivier Messiaen

A potent mixture of ecstatic spirituality, contemplative stillness, vast sonic spaces and a joyous celebration of nature, Messiaen's music seems to contain the whole world. In celebration of Messiaen's centenary, this year-long festival has travelled on a journey from the gigantic and exotic Turangalîlasymphonie, through the intense and moving Quartet for the End of Time and concludes this season with performances of Messiaen's entire organ music performed around London.

The festival culminates in a visit from Messiaen's celebrated pupil, Pierre Boulez, who performs with the Festival's Artistic Director Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Ensemble intercontemporain.
